The next meeting of the Women’s Group is being hosted by Ayia Kyriaki and is held at St. Stephen’s Church on 21st June at 3 pm.
The Speaker, Peggy Barnes will speak about her exciting story of her years as a volunteer in the backwoods of China. From Worcester in the UK to Xiaguan in Yunnan Province in Southwest China, (which translates as “South of the Clouds”), from SRN to MBE, and from being called “stupid and incapable of achieving anything” to having a medical centre named in her honour. Her journey in a closed country, fearing and unaccepting of western culture is an adventure in optimism over scepticism and mistrust.
The meeting is normally for an hour with the ability to interact with the Speaker. After which there are light refreshments and time to socialize with other members.
