It was a full house for this year’s Songs of Praise in the Park with 74 people attending, a record number. They ‘raised the proverbial roof’ with their enthusiastic singing of hymns and songs, and the poetry and prose from around the world was much appreciated by everyone.
We were delighted to welcome the Calvary Chapel from Polis who came along to join in, together with visitors from the local area. Also attending were people on holiday from the UK and further afield, who had seen the adverts in local magazines and came along to see what it was all about.
It was a very happy and friendly occasion and everyone gave generously. We collected €382.90, our best yet at this yearly event, for our chosen charity, the Dreamland Mission Hospital in Kenya. These much-needed funds are already on their way to the Hospital as a Trustee, Peter Latham, was present at the event. He was delighted at the amount! So were we. Thanks to the 27 volunteers from the Parish who were involved in making this happen, including our own clergy and visiting clergy from the UK.
Our next event at St. Luke’s is Carols for Christmas on 9th December, in the Church at Prodromi, 5.30 p.m. start. There will be Carols and Christmas poems, followed by mulled wine and mince pies. Come and share the joy of Christmas with us, everyone welcome.
