Baptism of William Michael Rae at Ayia Kyriaki

One of the greatest and most joyful Christian celebrations is the baptism of a person, whether as a baby or child, or, perhaps, much later in life.

Baptism is the celebration of the beginning of a journey with God and the worldwide Christian family which will continue for the remainder of that person’s life. Whatever the age of the person, the church gladly receives those who desire to respond to God’s love in baptism.

Often baptism of infants is referred to as Christening, parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start their child on a journey of faith and godparents promise help and support. The church also promises to welcome the child and to pray for the family.

The church is always delighted to talk to people who are thinking about having their children baptised or are themselves desiring to know more about baptism.
